Wood Species
Painted MDF/HDF
MDF is crafted from an engineered wood composite consisting of wood fibers and resin. Because it is engineered, MDF has a uniform density and smooth, grainless surface.
Alder
Alder has a light tan/honey color with a reddish undertone and stains evenly. It has a straight, fine-textured grain but can have knots, cracks, and other features. Alder is softer than other hardwoods and be easily dented or scratched.
Red Oak
Red Oak is a hardwood with a prominent, open grain pattern, its light to middle brown coloring with a cast of reddish hues. Its natural strength and wear resistance ensure durability and longevity.
Montana Maple (MT)
Montana Maple is very similar to hard maple. Generally, the sapwood is greyish-white, sometimes with darker colored pith flecks. The heartwood varies from light to dark reddish-brown. The wood grain is usually straight-grained.
Walnut
Walnut is characterized by its rich, warm color ranging from light brown to deep chocolate brown. It has a generally straight grain but can sometimes display wavy or curly patterns.
Hickory
Hickory can range in color from blonde or white to reddish-brown or dark brown, with variations within a single piece of wood. This is more noticeable in a natural or light finish. Hickory has a close-grained texture with a heavy, flowing grain pattern that can be straight, irregular, or wavy. It may have pinholes, knots, burls, and color streaks.
White Oak
White Oak has a light to medium brown with a creamy beige undertone, displaying natural variations in color. It is considered very hard and dense, making it resistant to scratches, dents, and wear. It is prized for its prominent grain patterns that can vary from a light grain to an irregular or “curly” grain.

What countertop is the best for your project?
Quartz
Quartz countertops are engineered stone surfaces made from crushed quartz, resins, and pigments. Quartz is a great choice for its durability, ease of cleaning, and color selection. They don't need to be resealed annually like granite or marble.
Granite
Granite is a completely natural stone. Granite should be sealed periodically to help it resist stains and moisture. Natural stone products can vary from piece to piece which gives it that one of a kind look.
Marble
Marble countertops are made from a natural stone that is quarried from the earth. Each slab is one of a kind. Marble is porous and requires more maintenance than some other materials to keep it looking its best.
Quartzite
Quartzite is a natural stone that is quarried like granite. It is known for its extreme strength and durability, and has the best benefits found in both granite and marble.
Soapstone
Soapstone is a natural stone made from a metamorphic rock. Soapstone is nonporous, heat-resistant, and resistant to acids, chemicals, mold, and stains. It can be left for a “lived-in” look or can be quickly sanded and oiled to remove minor nicks and scratches.
Laminate
Laminate countertops are made from fused plastics and particle board. They are a more cost effective option and are durable, stain resistant and easy to clean.
Porcelain
Porcelain is a man-made material that is made from a mix of quartz, clay, and feldspar. It is non-porous, making it hygienic and easy to clean. Most porcelain slabs only have the color or design printed on the surface, so the design may not carry through to the edges.
